anna meszaros - sculptor

Anna Meszaros has sculpted professionally since 1995, although previous to this she helped her uncle Michael Meszaros, also a professional sculptor, in his sculpting workshop. Michael later became her sculpting mentor, with whom she trained full-time for three years.

Anna has created a large body of sculpture, composed of both personal and commissioned artworks, many of which can be viewed in the galleries to the right. Although her preferred medium is bronze, she can and does work in various other materials as required.

Her most recognised work to date is a series of fourteen relief sculptures in bronze, depicting the Stations of the cross (various scenes from Jesus Christ's life at the time of his execution). Commissioned by Wesley Uniting Church on behalf of the Melbourne City Churches in action group, the sculptures are mounted on upright slabs of black granite and are a permanent feature outside several of the major inner city churches of Melbourne, Australia.
